Onishi Gallery is pleased to present Seo-Kyung Kim. She is a visual artist born in Seoul, Korea, 1971. She has received a BFA and a MFA in sculpture at the Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul. She has exhibited widely in Korea and France. She has also participated in solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Japan and in Burlington, VT, U.S.A.
Having won awards of honor at Livry-Gargan, Joongang Art Festival, and the Dongu-A Grand Prix Exhibition, Ms. Kim has proved a prolific career creating ethereal sculpture. Seo-Kyung Kim creates installations using polyester gauze and other projects such as pine wood and wire. From these materials, she has sculpted delicate impressions of bodies.
Wire is subtlety wound to become a standing figural form. Frozen in time, her sculptural installation captures an active stillness. Lightness in weight and movement, from above, wire hovers slightly. Lingering apparitions inhabit a particular space letting light filter through soft veils.
