Onishi Gallery is proud to be working with Salon Art + Design, a New York-based fair taking place at the Park Avenue Armory from November 11th through the 15th, presenting The Eternal Beauty of Metal and representing over 50 of the world's most influential galleries. Onishi Gallery—the only gallery in the United States representing contemporary Japanese metalwork artists—strives to foster a market for the precious and rare art form outside of Japan.

Featuring room vignettes, the Gallery’s exhibition demonstrates the ways in which Japanese art and design fits within the American home, merging Japanese sensibility with Western contemporary chic lifestyle. Featured artists within the Salon Art + Design exhibition include Living National Treasures Osumi Yukie, Nakagawa Mamoru, Tamagawa Norio, Taguchi Toshichika, Okuyama Hoseki, Uozumi Iraku and Katsura Morihito, as well as leading metal artists from Japan, Miyata Ryohei, Sako Ryuhei, Iede Takahiro, Hata Shunsai, Tanaka Terukazu, Oshiyama Motoko and Otsuki Masako. Visit the Salon Art + Design to visualize how these Japanese National Treasures beautifully intertwine metalwork into a distinctly captivating American urban-sphere, emitting light and life.
Onishi Gallery’s booth is curated by New York City-based design connoisseur, educator, and curator Dr. Daniella Ohad. The domestic space features art wallpaper by French Atelier D’Offard (represented by Ronit Anderson), and a combination of pieces of modern contemporary furniture which embody the sophisticated interior of the 21st century. This setting acts as a backdrop for the collection of Japanese contemporary metalwork, exhibiting how the unique metalworks transform and enhance the soul of the interior. In this space, pieces by George Nakashima, Paavo Tynell, Maison Leleu, Carol Egan, William Sullivan, and Georges Mohasseb enhance the Japanese metal vessels.
